Parking Permits

Parking permits are available for city-owned parking lots located in the downtown area and can be obtained from our department during normal business hours.  Space is limited and permits are provided on a first come, first served basis.  Please see the map at the bottom of the page.  Common questions regarding parking permits are located below.

What can I use my parking space for?
You may use your space to park your automobile or motorcycle only. Your space may not be used to store personal items. Your automobile or motorcycle must be operational, not leaking fluids, and licensed per Chehalis Municipal codes.

How much does a parking permit cost?
The price for a reserved space in one of the city permit-only lots is $20 per month.

When is payment due?
Payment is due on the first of the month. If we do not receive payment by the fifth of the month, your space will be sold to another party. We do request you bring exact change if possible.

Can I pay for more than one month at a time?
Yes, you may pay monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually.

What does a parking permit provide?
An off-street parking space reserved for you Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm, excluding observed holidays, weekends and unless otherwise posted.

What if someone is in my space?
If you find an unauthorized vehicle in your parking space during those hours, please telephone our dispatch center at 740-1105. Tell them the lot and space number as well as a description and/or license plate number of the unauthorized vehicle. You may park on the street and will be notified when your space is available.

Do I have to display the permit in my vehicle?
Yes. Please notify Parking Enforcement if you will be sharing your space and the license plate of those authorized vehicles.

When will a space become available in Lot C?
You may place your name and phone number on a waiting list for this lot. We are unable to say how long this will take. As soon as a space becomes available and your name comes up next on the list, we will notify you at the phone number you provided.
