The Chehalis Community Renaissance Team is offering local businesses and residents a chance to sponsor the planting of annuals on North Market Boulevard to help beautify the downtown and support Pope’s Kids Place, which was chosen this year to receive the funds.

To sponsor an island or tree pot, the cost is $50. Any contribution beyond that amount will be donated to Pope’s Kids Place.

If a business or individual would prefer to plant the annuals themselves, a 20 percent discount will be given at Kaija’s Garden and Pet.

The Chehalis Renaissance had an irrigation system added to the pots and islands last year, and while the shrubs will be watered, the irrigation system may not reach the annuals.

The Chehalis Renaissance asks sponsors of the islands to make sure the annuals stay watered and weeded.

All the sponsors and honorees will be recognized on the Chehalis Community Renaissance website and Facebook site, the nonprofit organization said.

Last year, 17 business owners and individuals sponsored the planting of 25 islands and large tree pots in shades of pink, purple and white annuals in support of breast cancer awareness.
