The Chehalis Municipal Court is a court of limited jurisdiction and provides exclusive original jurisdiction over alleged violations of all City of Chehalis ordinances and some state statutes. These charges may include non-traffic infractions, traffic infractions, criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors.

The court is responsible for collecting all fines and penalties arising from these violations, and processes and maintains all court related documents.

The municipal court schedules all hearings and supervises related services including indigent defense, probation services, electronic home monitoring, and community service.

Mission Statement
It is the responsibility of the municipal court to preserve and protect the constitutional and legal rights of citizens charged with criminal/civil offenses within the jurisdiction of the court; to determine the sufficiency of evidence of such charges; and to impose sentences on convicted parties which will adequately punish criminals and deter them and others from such offenses in the future.

Operating Hours and Court Sessions
The court clerk’s office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.pm Monday through Friday excluding legal holidays. Court is in session Wednesday afternoons starting at 12:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Holilday Court Closures:  May 27, 2024;  June 19, 2024;  July 4, 2024;  September 2, 2024;   November 11, 2024;  November 28 - 29; 2024;  December 25, 2024.
